š Step 1: Prep hot dogs
Pat hot dogs dry and insert wooden skewer into each one lengthwise.
š½ Step 2: Make batter
Whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, egg, and milk until smooth. Pour into tall glass.
š„ Step 3: Heat oil
Heat 2 inches of oil in deep pot to 350°F.
š Step 4: Dip hot dogs
Dip each hot dog into cornmeal batter, coating completely.
š¦ Step 5: Fry
Carefully lower corn dogs into hot oil. Fry 2-3 at a time.
ā²ļø Step 6: Cook until golden
Fry for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until deep golden brown.
š§» Step 7: Drain
Remove to paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
š Step 8: Repeat
Repeat with remaining hot dogs, maintaining oil temperature.
š½ļø Step 9: Serve
Serve hot with mustard and ketchup for dipping!
